Earth Day 2022: GMV Gives Back

At the end of April, our teams across the country, from Los Angeles to Houston, took time to give back to the planet by participating in local Earth Day and Earth Week cleanup projects.

Our team in LA partnered with Friends of the LA River (FOLAR), providing financial support and human power to help remove trash and debris from our local, major urban waterway, the Los Angeles River.

In total, we removed 100 lbs of trash from the river, from cigarette butts and metal pipes to mechanical chairs, rugs, and pans. A major win for this important ecosystem!

Keeping our local waterways clear of trash and debris helps to support a healthy community and provides climate resiliency and equitable access to our public spaces for all. To read our full GMV Impact Report from FOLAR, click here.

Our team in Houston volunteered with Harris County Precinct 3 to help remove invasive plants at Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center in Humble, TX, part of a 312-acre nature preserve located along Spring Creek.

The park is important to the local ecosystem and includes “a variety of plant and wildlife species, swamps with century-old cypress trees, and a Nature Center to educate anyone looking to learn more about the local environment.”

Our team wanted to give back by focusing on natural areas where we could make an impact locally. That sounds like a successful Earth Day to me. Way to go, team!
