PRODUCT FOCUS:
AVL MAP LAYERS

Use "Next Stops" to identify issues before they occur

AVL map layers such as Next Stops help predict route performance using vehicle location. Next Stops shows each vehicle’s expected path and arrival timing, and highlights late stops in yellow or red. As drivers complete their stops, the map updates in real time.

When you display known addresses on the map, dispatchers can quickly identify the locations of vehicles and actionize them to new trips. You can also compare expected results with real driver activity, giving you a clear picture of the events leading up to and following an important change.

Each added map layer makes it easier for you to respond effectively to trip requests.

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT:
AUTO-SCHEDULING TRAINING AT CARTS

CENTRAL AREA RURAL TRANSIT SYSTEM (KENAI, AK)

Paul Gardner had the pleasure of visiting Central Area Rural Transit System (CARTS) in Kenai, Alaska, where he led a training on auto-scheduling.

The CARTS training focused on how to use the software’s auto-scheduling capabilities to their full potential. While the software can perform lots of tasks, the team wanted to zero in on the software capabilities within Easy Rides that most benefited their system. CARTS dispatchers specifically benefit from the ability to add map layers and to edit routes from within the map, so that the agency can respond in real time to route changes due to seasons or construction.

Dispatchers, drivers and riders interact with appointment time windows very differently. A dispatcher may expect to use a time window for an immediate trip while a driver expects to take a quick break. At CARTS, we agreed on the benefits of setting policies between dispatchers and drivers to prevent confusion and to use each time window efficiently.
